Job Purpose: 

As a key member of the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI) in-house operations and management team, the Senior Technician/Coordinator will lead technical operations for electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance of EV Charging infrastructure. This role requires advanced technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and the ability to supervise and coordinate technical tasks while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.  

 

Job Responsibilites:

 

Functional/Technical Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and supervise the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Electric Vehicle Charge Points and associated electrical systems  

  • Conduct advanced fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex EVCI systems  

  • Analyze technical issues and implement effective solutions with minimal supervision  

  • Perform electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing and test certification to industry standards  

  • Support remote diagnostics of EVCI systems when possible, reducing need for site visits  

  • Coordinate and oversee the work of other technicians, providing technical guidance and on-the-job training  

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all technical activities, repairs, and installations  

  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance according to established schedules  

  • Ensure all work meets required electrical codes, safety protocols, and quality standards  

  • Interface with the network management system to monitor charger performance and identify potential issues before they become critical 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and technical guidance to junior technicians  

  • Assist in the training and development of junior staff  

  • Review and verify work quality and documentation of team members  

  • Allocate tasks and manage workflow for maximum efficiency  

  • Provide feedback to management on team performance and technical challenges 

 

Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports 

  • Implement and ensure adherence to all relevant functional policies, processes, and standard operating procedures  

  • Prepare detailed technical reports, maintenance logs, and documentation using appropriate software systems  

  • Assist in developing and updating technical procedures and work instructions  

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of parts, tools, and equipment  

  • Generate detailed incident reports for any safety or operational issues  

  • Contribute to regular performance metrics reporting for the EVCI network 

 

Safety, Quality & Environment  

  • Serve as a safety champion, demonstrating and enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols  

  • Conduct regular safety briefings and tool-box talks for technical teams  

  • Perform risk assessments before undertaking any new or complex installations  

  • Ensure all team members use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)  

  • Identify and report potential safety hazards in the EVCI environment  

  • Apply quality control measures to all technical work  

  • Implement environmental management practices in all maintenance activities  

  • Ensure proper disposal of any waste materials according to environmental regulations. 

 

Continuous Improvement    

  • Identify opportunities for technical and operational improvements  

  • Suggest and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability  

  • Participate in regular technical reviews to address recurring issues  

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in EVCI  

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing across the technical team  

  • Provide input for improvement of systems, processes, and practices based on field experience 

 

Qualification & Education:

 

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical installations and maintenance  

  • At least 2 years of experience with EV Charging infrastructure or similar technical systems  

  • Valid electrical safety certification and licenses  

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred 

 

Skills:

 

Technical Competence 

  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and components
  • Understanding of EVCI network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, OCPP, OCPI)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment and procedures 

 

Computer Skills: 

  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems 
  • Ability to use diagnostic software for EVCI troubleshooting  
  • Competent with MS Office applications for documentation and reporting  
  • Experience with inventory management systems  
  • Basic data analysis capabilities for performance monitoring 

 

Safety Knowledge 

  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical safety standards and protocols
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
  • Ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures
  • Experience conducting safety briefings and training
