Job Purpose

The role will be responsible for the asset management, agreements and development of all Technology Utility assets (EV Chargers, Meters, ducting, POP’s, MMU’s, Data Centers.  

The role will work closely with the Utility Operations Team together with the asset owners, where the equipment (Meters, EV Chargers) are located. They will also work closely with the RSG Technology Team, who will use the Utility Companies passive network (Ducts, chambers, POP’s, MMU’s and Data Center.  

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Strategic Contribution 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the annual business plan, and target and implement the strategic agenda of the TRSUC field technology utilities operations function to deliver TRSUC’s and RSG vision and mission. 

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and functional roadmaps for the management of field technology utilities operations aligned to TRSUC goals. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the field technology utilities operations TRSUC team.  

  • Ensure that the field technology utilities operations strategy is translated into operational business plans for the TRSUC Technical Services function and monitor the performance and execution of those plans to achieve functional objectives and deliver the company’s strategy. 

 

Functional Responsibilities 

  • Ensure reliable & efficient operation of all field technology utilities including meters, ICT assets, EV chargers etc. within the organization, including procurement, development and maintenance 

  • Develop & define processes for the overall monitoring, control and optimization of the field technology  utilities incorporated within the organization 

  • Identify and manage the implementation of a range of key Utility Technology projects focusing towards enablement of smooth and efficient operations of the company. 

  • Ensure project Implementation is aligned with the RGS’s project timeline and meets all the requirements of the business owners and stakeholders 

  • Oversee establishment of key  performance indicators (KPIs) across metering, ICT assets & EV charging teams & ensure adherence towards the same by respective teams 

  • Studies & recommends new & advanced technologies around field technology utilities operations including meters, ICT assets, EV chargers to enhance reliability and efficiency of the utility services provided 

  • Recommends selection of operations and maintenance consultants; oversees the coordination and management of consultants providing engineering, SCADA, maintenance, and operations support services to the department 

  • Develops & implement strategies to ensure quality customer service and address customer service issues pertaining to metering, ICT assets & EV Chargers in a timely and responsible manner 

  • Implement and enforce processes to ensure compliance of field technology utilities systems & infrastructure with regulatory requirements 

 

Leadership and Relationship Management 

  • Direct the activities of the field technology utilities operations team to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the strategic project management plans, policies and procedures. 

  • Build and lead a motivated, engaged, and competent team by setting priorities and objectives, managing performances, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to meet the functional challenges and goals. 

  • Serve as a role model to ensure employees’ awareness and commitment to RSG vision, mission, values, fundamentals, and corporate strategy to establish a highly engaged and motivated human resources, and continuously improve performance. 

  • Provide development opportunities to maximize potential and engagement of employees through mentoring, coaching and constructive feedback. 

  • Contribute to the identification of the respective employees’ training and developmental needs and bridge the knowledge gaps to ensure continuous progression and high-level of competence within the team.

 

Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports 

  • Develop all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.  

  • Ensure preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards. 

 

Risk Management 

  • Identify different aspects of risk pertaining to field technology utility operations and develop mitigation measures to negate or minimize the effect of these risks 

  • Ensure decisions are made in accordance with ERM policy and guidelines 

  • Report regularly on the key business risks to the management 

 

Safety, Quality & Environment  

  • Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude. 

  • Stay informed on relevant regulations, codes and standards governing field technology utilities operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.  

  • Stay updated on relevant environmental and safety regulations and integrate them into processes 

 

Continuous Improvement    

  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of department’s systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement. 

  • Ensure new & advanced technologies around field technology utilities operations is incorporated to enhance reliability and efficiency of the utility services provided 

 

Qualification and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering with Electrical/Mechanical/Telecommunication or a related field 

  • Minimum of 15-20 years of relevant experience in senior operations role within the utility sector with a focus on technology with at least 5-10 years as project lead/manager.
