Job Purpose

As a AD in Structural Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of these ventures. Reporting to the  Engineering Director, you will lead structural design initiatives, ensuring technical excellence and innovation across our project spectrum. Your mission will include overseeing the structural design process from concept to completion, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, driving value engineering, and managing design risks to uphold our commitment to quality and environmental sustainability. In this strategic capacity, you will not only contribute to the development of structural design standards but also champion their application in new projects, guiding RSG towards achieving its vision of transformative development.

Job Responsibilities - Functional

  • Supervise and evaluate employees’ performance with continuous feedback on their assigned targets and provide development opportunities to maximize potential and engagement of employees through mentoring, coaching and constructive feedback. Structural Engineering 
  • Develop RFPs and tender documents, define metrics and ensure that all the requested details (such as drawings, specifications and raw materials) are clear to avoid any issues or misalignments during work execution. 
  • Guide the consultant, monitor subsequent progress against that plan and ensure that corrective action is agreed and implemented at the appropriate level where variations from plan occur.
  • Take part in all meetings concerning design and construction, maintain constant awareness to ensure approved requirements regarding site condition, coordinate with design managers, monitor the work to ensure design implementation, give recommendations concerning the construction works, discuss site issues with the consultants and ensure compliance with tender documents and schedule. 
  • Participate in meetings with project and design managers, give recommendations, discuss design issues and generate solutions, communicate needs and recommendations. 
  • Conduct site inspections and record comments on issues and follow-ups, provide guidance and recommendations to ensure that work is executed in line with the approved design specifications.
  • Identify, assess and help mitigate different aspects of risks presented on the project to create preventative risk methods and avoid potential delays and added cost.

• Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
• Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies and standards.

• Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of the department's systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Job Requirements - Qualification & Experience

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering is required. A Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Certifications: Must possess Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or an equivalent certification, underscoring a recognized level of professional competence.
  • Experience: A minimum of 15-20 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, including at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity, overseeing complex projects.

Job Requirements - Skills

  • Specialized Skills:
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the design of coastal structures and a solid understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, which will be considered a significant advantage.
    • A proven track record in technical project management, including adeptness in evaluating contracts and managing project execution to ensure adherence to specifications and standards. 
    • Understanding of Quantity Take-offs and Bill of Quantities: Must have a solid understanding of the processes involved in performing quantity take-offs and preparing bill of quantities.
    • This knowledge is crucial for supporting accurate project cost estimations and budgeting activities.
