Job Purpose
The Water Sports Supervisor is a site-based operational leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily execution, safety, and quality of all water sports activities within the assigned asset.
This role ensures the smooth coordination of instructors, guest activities, and equipment readiness while maintaining the highest standards of safety, service excellence, and operational efficiency.
The Water Sports Supervisor acts as the key link between the Water Sports Manager and frontline instructors, ensuring seamless delivery of premium guest experiences within a luxury marine tourism environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. General Responsibilities
- Support the Water Sports Manager in the daily management and operation of all water sports activities.
- Supervise water sports instructors and operational staff to ensure consistent delivery of safe and high-quality experiences.
- Coordinate daily activity schedules, guest allocations, and resource planning.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in line with company SOPs, safety standards, and luxury service expectations.
- Maintain a professional, guest-focused, and safety-driven operational environment.
2. Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily execution of all water sports activities, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Ensure instructors are properly briefed, prepared, and deployed according to daily schedules.
- Monitor weather, sea conditions, and environmental factors to ensure safe operations.
- Support guest flow management, from check-in through to activity completion.
- Ensure all equipment is prepared, inspected, and ready for safe use prior to operations.
- Act as escalation point for operational issues, guest concerns, and safety incidents.
- Coordinate closely with boat crew, instructors, and support teams to ensure alignment.
- Maintain accurate operational records, including activity logs and attendance.
3. Pre-Opening Support
- Assist in the setup and readiness of water sports facilities, equipment, and operational systems.
- Support the development of operational procedures, safety standards, and activity workflows.
- Contribute to staff onboarding and training during the pre-opening phase.
- Assist in testing and validation of equipment and activity zones prior to opening.
4. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
- Ensure safety is the highest priority across all water sports operations.
- Enforce compliance with safety procedures, risk assessments, and emergency protocols.
- Conduct routine safety checks and operational inspections of equipment and activity areas.
- Promote environmental awareness and responsible interaction with marine environments.
- Ensure full compliance with company and regulatory safety standards at all times.
5. Leadership & Team Support
- Supervise and support Water Sports Instructors in daily operations and guest delivery.
- Provide on-the-job guidance to ensure consistent service quality and safety compliance.
- Support performance monitoring and contribute to team development.
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
6. Policies, Procedures & Reporting
- Adhere to and enforce all company policies, SOPs, and operational guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and operational reports.
- Provide regular updates to the Water Sports Manager on performance, risks, and guest feedback.
7. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, safety standards, and guest experience.
- Support the development of new water sports activities and guest programs.
- Contribute to process improvements and best practice implementation.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Certified Water Sports Instructor or equivalent qualification (e.g., ISA, RYA, or recognized authority).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in water sports instruction or marine tourism operations.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role preferred.
- Strong background in multiple water sports disciplines.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (up to date).
- Strong understanding of water safety, rescue techniques, and risk management.
