Job Purpose
The Senior Instructor – Adventure is responsible for supporting the AKUN Adventure management team in the safe, efficient, and professional delivery of inland adventure operations across The Red Sea destination. The role plays a key part in developing and delivering a diverse portfolio of adventure activities, trails, and immersive guest experiences that reflect RSSE's service standards and operational excellence.
The position supports the implementation of the adventure programme by ensuring operational readiness, instructor capability, activity planning, and the consistent delivery of safe, engaging, and memorable experiences. The Senior Instructor also provides day-to-day guidance to instructors, promotes operational best practices, and contributes to maintaining the highest standards of safety, service, and environmental stewardship.
Working collaboratively with internal departments, resort partners, local stakeholders, and external service providers, the role ensures operational alignment, regulatory compliance, effective communication, and continuous improvement across all AKUN adventure experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Delivery

Support the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of AKUN adventure experiences, inland trails, activity routes, and guest experience locations throughout The Red Sea destination.

Assist in planning, coordinating, and delivering adventure activities while ensuring compliance with approved operating procedures and safety standards.

Ensure all activities are delivered professionally, safely, and consistently in accordance with RSSE operational standards.

Support the operational rollout of new adventure products, activities, and guest experiences.

Supervise daily adventure operations and provide on-site leadership during activity delivery.

Coach, mentor, and support instructors to maintain consistent operational standards and exceptional guest service.

Monitor instructor performance and provide ongoing operational guidance and professional development.

Ensure all venues, trails, equipment, vehicles, and operational assets remain clean, safe, service-ready, and fully operational.

Coordinate activity logistics, equipment allocation, and operational readiness across multiple locations.

Monitor weather conditions, trail status, guest capability, equipment suitability, and environmental risks, adjusting operations where necessary.

Promote AKUN's adventure experiences while supporting collaboration with other RSSE brands, including Galaxea and WAMA.

Participate in operational meetings, providing updates on safety performance, guest feedback, instructor capability, equipment readiness, and improvement initiatives.

Support route exploration, trail development, product enhancement, and experience innovation initiatives across the destination.
Leadership & Team Development

Provide day-to-day supervision and operational leadership to Adventure Instructors.

Deliver coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to support team capability and continuous development.

Safety, Risk & Compliance

Support management in implementing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Emergency Response Plans (ERPs), and activity-specific safety protocols.

Monitor operational risks and ensure appropriate mitigation measures are implemented before and during activities.

Apply local regulations, international adventure tourism standards, and recognised industry best practices.

Ensure instructors comply with all operational, environmental, and safety requirements.

Promote responsible outdoor recreation and environmental conservation throughout all activities.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Reporting

Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.

Support the preparation of accurate operational reports, performance updates, safety documentation, and management information reports.

Maintain accurate activity records, incident reports, equipment inspections, and operational documentation.

Provide recommendations to improve operational performance, guest satisfaction, safety, and service quality.

Qualifications & Experience
-
Valid Wilderness First Aid certification or internationally recognised First Aid qualification, including CPR, emergency response, hyperthermia, and hypothermia management, with a minimum six months' validity upon commencement.

Basic Land Navigation certification with practical GPS navigation experience.

Leave No Trace certification or equivalent environmental awareness training is preferred.

Search and Rescue, tracking, or outdoor expedition training is advantageous.

Trekking or Mountain Leader qualification preferred, including recognised certifications from IFMGA, UIAA, BMC, or equivalent organisations.

Minimum of two National Governing Body (NGB) certifications in disciplines such as climbing, mountain biking, archery, high ropes, quad biking, or comparable adventure activities.

Minimum 4–5 years' experience within adventure tourism, outdoor recreation, hospitality, sports operations, or luxury guest experience environments.

Previous experience within Saudi Arabia, remote destinations, or luxury tourism operations is advantageous.
