Job Purpose:
Responsible for the crewing day-to-day activities of the company’s owned/managed vessels and ensuring the vessels are manned as per the regulations and operations requirements to their satisfaction with Zero downtime.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the crewing activities of the company’s owned/managed vessels and ensuring the vessels are manned as per the regulations and client requirements to their satisfaction with Zero downtime.
- Ensure he/she is well aware of Company policies and procedures, particularly of all sections relevant to the crewing department.
- Ensure effective implementation of the Safety Management System & Control Cycles as promulgated in the internal control audit cycle to the extent of all crewing-related activities identified within various sections of Company Manuals.
- Responsible for the crewing process, to ensure vessels are manned and operated always with competent and qualified personnel.
- Cooperate with HR department coordinators for the effective functioning of the crewing department.
- Ensure that proper familiarization, mentoring and coaching of all crewing department personnel is completed and performed.
- 24x7 Point of contact for all crewing requirements for all fleet vessels.
- Ensuring department KPI’s are maintained and improved from previous quarters and submitted as per timelines
- Be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the responsibilities of crewing coordinators employed in the crewing department and be able to take over any of the roles assigned to the crewing coordinator at any given time if so, required by the management.
- Ensure that a comprehensive, updated CRP (Crew Rotation Planner) is maintained and made available to management at all times.
- Ensure that effective retention of quality officers and crew are maintained.
- Support the Talents Acquisition team in Crew Sourcing through Agents basis vacancy identified through CRP and any additional requirements advised by Technical Manager, Operations Manager, DPA with Operation Director’s approval, especially for masters and chief engineers.
- Maintain relevant matrix for crew documentation for area/client/operations specific requirements with clear guidance provided to subordinate staff for effective implementation.
- Periodically verify that all crew-related documents are valid and maintained to company requirements.
- Ensure any complaints raised by the onboard crew are adequately recorded, tracked, and closed out in cooperation with Operations Manager/HR.
- Ensure that the familiarization period for joining personnel is tracked and recorded.
- Ensure crew over-lap period is strictly followed and does not exceed beyond the Company procedural requirement.
- Can be assigned by the Operations Manager to attend the Periodic and Annual Management Review and propose continual improvement suggestions.
- Update CRP upon crew joining.
- Update CRP & Crew on leave tracker.
- Raises the requests to the GR’s team for Flag document-related services.
Qualification and Experience:
- 3-5 year’s experience in crew management
- Middle East experience ideally in KSA would be advantageous.
