Senior Manager - Microgrids and Battery Storage
Job Purpose:
Responsible for providing expert guidance and strategic insights on microgrids and battery storage solutions that could be leveraged across TRSUC. This role will serve as center of expertise internally for the technical services function & shall utilize extensive knowledge of new energy technologies, market trends, and policy frameworks to develop and implement innovative microgrids & battery storage solutions that shall drive sustainable growth for TRSUC.
This role will be key in developing microgrid and battery storage solutions that can be scaled, and will need to understand the complexities around off-grid applications.
The role will also provide consultancy services to other organizations or ministries which need support around microgrids and battery storage
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Contribution

Develop functional strategies & roadmaps to come up with tailored solutions around microgrids and battery storage thereby aligning with the overall strategic intent of the organization & supporting transition towards cleaner energy solutions with specific focus on renewables

Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, technological innovations and stay updated on policy developments in the microgrid and battery storage domains to provide informed recommendations relevant to the business
Functional Responsibilities

Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to identify opportunities for microgrid deployment and optimization.

Design microgrid systems that integrate renewable energy sources, energy storage, and grid interconnection to maximize efficiency and reliability.

Perform modeling and simulation to assess the performance, economic viability, savings analysis and environmental benefits of microgrid configurations.

Evaluate battery storage technologies for use in microgrid applications.

Design battery storage systems to support peak shaving, load shifting, and grid stabilization functions, while optimizing battery lifespan and performance.

Develop control strategies and algorithms for battery management and energy dispatch within microgrid systems.

Proactively contribute to the advancement of renewable energy and energy resilience solutions.

Lead a project team to investigate, develop and implement energy related customer improvements with a special focus on battery energy storage systems (BESS) and renewable-based microgrids

Lead the assessment of potential microgrid applications that arise in the sales process

Support microgrid commissioning by writing specifications and test plans, driving test execution and documenting results

Conduct technical and commercial analysis for the microgrid and battery storage solutions to understand the operational reliability and economic implications

Conduct comprehensive research on enhancements in microgrid and battery storage techniques and technologies for their potential adoption within the organization to offer better & reliable services

Work with customers, internal teams and OEMs to optimize the microgrid design and awareness through workshops and modeling

Provide consultancy services for other organizations or ministries which need support around microgrids and battery storage, in the kingdom, region or globally
Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports

Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Maintain relevant functional logs and documentation as mandated by the various statutory and regulatory laws and provide regular statistical reports / updates / MIS on various microgrid and battery solutions developed to the senior management team.
Risk Management

Identify different aspects of risk associated within microgrids and battery storage and develop mitigation measures to negate or minimize the effect of these risks

Ensure decisions are made in accordance with ERM policy and guidelines
Safety, Quality & Environment

Apply safety, quality and environmental management policy, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude

Ensure all safety, quality, environment norms are adhered to while proposing and setting up microgrids and battery storage facilities
Relationship Management

Collaborate with government agencies, industry associations, research institutions, and other key stakeholders to foster strategic partnerships and drive collaborative initiatives in the microgrids and battery storage space

Collaborate with external vendors, who are leaders in the field, and bring their expertise to TRSUC through meetings, discussions, forums etc
Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the identification of opportunities within microgrids and battery storage space for continuous improvement of the TRSUC function’s systems, processes and practices considering international best practice, business process improvement, cost reduction and productivity improvement

Contribute to the development of thought leadership content, whitepapers, and industry reports to showcase expertise and establish the organization as a leader in the field
Qualification & Experience:

Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in electrical / mechanical engineering, renewable energy, environmental science, or a related field

Minimum 8-12 years of experience in energy consulting, microgrids, battery storage or a related area in utility services, preferably in the off-grid sector

Good understanding of microgrids, battery storage & energy policies, regulations, and market dynamics at the local, regional and international levels

Proficiency in technology around microgrids and battery storage
