Job Purpose:
The Sr Civil Engineer carries out routine inspections of the façade, internal structures, external paving and roads, internal surfaces etc and conducts repairs. Ensures the buildings are compliant to code. Manages minor new works as in-house projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- High level of knowledge of industry standards, ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications. Must be able to understand drawings & details, material finishes and construction material requirements.
- Aware about the latest specialty chemicals, epoxies, paints, PU coatings for different surfaces and applications, able to read the technical datasheets, MSDS etc. and able to guide painters and applicators on mixing percentages. Should be aware of shelf life and pot life situation.
- Should be able to perform setting-out plans on site as per approved drawings, able to independently handle assigned projects, Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation. Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and materials.
- Compliance with local building codes, and health and safety regulations
- Inspects all wooden, steel and civil structures on weekly, monthly, quarterly basis, and recommends maintenance as applicable. Where budget outlay is needed, submits a request to Facilities Manager.
- Ensures CAFM work requests are always reviewed on daily basis with Amrak and monitors and controls quality of works.
- Inspects works completed by Amrak, certifies the same, raises NCRs where necessary.
- Prepares documentation for executing minor new works (MNW) / additions & alterations (A&A) as in-house projects
- Initiates materials procurement and carries out the MNW / A&A in timely manner
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
- 12 to 15 years’ experience in maintenance and fit out of high quality buildings such as hospitals, hotels/hospitality buildings, corporate headquarters. Construction experience is not acceptable
Skills:
- Lead a team of workers from different trade disciplines and nationalities.
- Polite and courteous
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; effectively manage time and meet deadlines with limited supervision
- Coping with pressure and setbacks
- Well versed with basic computer systems and software related to Civil Engineering.
- English languages proficiency
- Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
