Job Purpose

As a Senior Manager in Structural Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of these ventures. Reporting to the Associate Director and Engineering Director, you will lead structural design initiatives, ensuring technical excellence and innovation across our project spectrum. Your mission will include overseeing the structural design process from concept to completion, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, driving value engineering, and managing design risks to uphold our commitment to quality and environmental sustainability. In this strategic capacity, you will not only contribute to the development of structural design standards but also champion their application in new projects, guiding RSG towards achieving its vision of transformative development.

Job Responsibilities - Leadership

 

  • Oversee the management of structural engineering packages from concept design through construction documentation, ensuring adherence to technical excellence, efficiency, and RSG’s strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with external structural engineering consultants, ensuring designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with project goals without compromising structural integrity.
  • Review and challenge designs to avoid unnecessary waste and overengineering, emphasizing sustainable and economical solutions.
  • Facilitate design coordination meetings, clearly communicating project requirements and updates to ensure cohesive progress among all stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on design submissions, advocating for value engineering and innovative design solutions to enhance project value.
  • During construction, provide technical support to the onsite construction teams, resolving any design-related issues to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Assist in the development of in-house design solutions for urgent structural elements, ensuring rapid delivery without sacrificing quality.
  • Monitor and report on the structural design process's progress and cost status to senior management, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Champion interdisciplinary coordination, ensuring the structural design integrates seamlessly with other project aspects and adheres to RSG's policies and timelines

Job Responsibilities - Functional

 

  • Support the procurement and commercial teams in procuring and managing contracts with structural engineering consultants, ensuring clarity of deliverables, responsibilities, and timelines.
  • Ensure all structural designs comply with international standards, codes, and environmental sustainability practices.
  • Act as the primary liaison between RSG and structural engineering consultants, managing the scope, schedule, and budget of the structural engineering package to align with project objectives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the design of coastal structures and a solid understanding of geotechnical engineering principles, which will be considered a significant advantage/
  • A proven track record in technical project management, including adeptness in evaluating contracts and managing project execution to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Understanding of Quantity Take-offs and Bill of Quantities: Must have a solid understanding of the processes involved in performing quantity take-offs and preparing bill of quantities. This knowledge is crucial for supporting accurate project cost estimations and budgeting activities.

• Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of the department's systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Design Specialist Consultants/Contractors

Job Requirements - Qualification & Experience

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering is required. A Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Must possess Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or an equivalent certification, underscoring a recognized level of professional competence.
  • A minimum of 12 to 18 years of relevant experience in the field of structural engineering, including at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity, overseeing complex projects.
  • Expertise in project management, design management, and commercial acumen to lead and oversee complex structural projects.

Job Context

 

The Senior Manager - Structural Engineering will be based at Project sites and/or RSG HQ; and will conduct site visits and business trips as needed. The job location will be determined post Interview.
