Job Purpose


The Traffic Engineering Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of the site-wide traffic management strategy, systems, policies, procedures and monitor operations in order to ensure a safe and efficient environment for employees, contractors and visitors. This shall include the preparation, development, and analysis of traffic operations, oversight of transportation plans, traffic studies, and impact assessments to ensure traffic interfaces are managed and coordinated across multiple related stakeholders. 

Job Responsibilities - Functional


  • ​​​​​​​Demonstrate detailed understanding of construction traffic requirements, the development of traffic management strategies and the effective delivery of transportation processes.
  • Possess broad knowledge of project management and appropriate delivery strategies within time, scope, budget and quality levels.
  • Assist in the development and management all aspects of site-wide traffic management from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues.
  • Participate as a member of the Project Team for evaluating the suitability of transportation participants (Suppliers and Contractors) for employment within the project, so as to ensure engagement of the most reliable partners in terms of area expertise, commitment and access to necessary resources to complete the job as per quality standards, working closely with the Associate Logistics Director and the Senior Traffic Manager and the AMAALA team.
  • Assist in providing effective management and development of the Project Delivery Team in terms of stakeholder relationships, cost & commercial parameters and people management such that best practice, integrity and legal compliance is consistently met.
  • Understand and implement project scope and changes whilst ensuring time cost and quality metrics are properly managed in accordance with AMAALA requirements working closely with the Associate Logistics Director, the Senior Traffic Manager and the AMAALA team.
  • Continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices.

Job Responsibilities - Organizational


Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports
•    Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. 
•    Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely functional statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies and standards.

Safety, Quality 

  • Oversee that the highest standards of health and safety are considered a priority through all stages of the Project construction.
  • Knowledge and exposure to the basic safety measures and housekeeping on site.
  • Never compromise on safety and lead by example.
  • Liaise closely with H&S personnel on site as required.



  • Manage the outcomes and implementation from the Environmental and Social Impact Assessments including all sustainability strategies, site placement, mitigation, reinstatement and offset plans working closely with the Associate Logistics Director, the Senior Traffic Manager and the AMAALA team.

Job Requirements - Qualification & Experience


  • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Transportation Planning or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in construction industry and traffic related projects.
  • Practical proven experience in the usage of PTV VISIM, VISUM, TRANSCAD, SYNCHRO, SIDRA, and TRANSYT.
  • Good knowledge in the use of AutoCAD.
