Job Title: Coxswain/ Boat Operator

Job Purpose

The role of the Boat Operator/Coxswain is to be responsible for the operation  of the firefighting and Rescue vessel to comply with all Local, National and International regulations for sea going vessels and to operate the vessel safely in line with the SOLAS regulations. To be responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel and safety of the crew and passengers. To operate the vessel effectively as part of a firefighting and emergency response, acting in conjunction with the Fire Fighting Crew officer in Charge. To be responsible for maintaining the vessel in a condition of readiness and seaworthiness and to accurately report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment to the proper authority. To be proficient in navigating the fire and rescue vessel within the waters around the Red Sea Project destinations appropriately ensuring the safety of the vessel at all times.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Report to the Captain and assist as required in operational and administrative efficiency of the fire and rescue service on station
  • Be proficient in operating on-board pumps, , power and other mechanical equipment as required
  • Keep inventory of the vessels equipment and life saving apparatus
  • Report mechanical failures or difficulties and missing or damaged equipment
  • Responsibility for updating and maintaining all records pertaining to their duties
  • Be responsible for the operational readiness of the Fire and Rescue vessel
  • Attend training courses when required
  • Responsibility for the implementation of Red Sea Fire and Rescue and Red Sea Global policies and procedures
  • Be flexible with regard to working in varied locations as directed by RSFR management
  • Carrying out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time

  • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards.

Job Requirements

 

  • Minimum Age 21
  • Essential
  • IYT Powerboat Skipper up to 24 metres in length or equivalent
  • VHF-SRC CoC Marine Communications Course
  • Minimum 500 Hours
  • Proficient Swimmer: 50 metres swim within 90 seconds

 

Advantageous:

  • Basic Sea Survival course
  • Emergency rescue vessel operational experience
  • Experience and knowledge of Raymarine on board navigation, depth sounding and collision avoidance systems
  • First Aid Qualified
