Job Summary:

  • Red Sea Global is seeking a skilled and visionary Director of Waterways Management and Harbour Master to lead the strategic management and operations of our waterways.
  • The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and sustainable navigation and utilization of our maritime assets.
  • The Director of Waterways Management and Harbour Master at Red Sea Global is responsible for overseeing the complete management of all Waterways and Harbour Master functions within our marine portfolio.
  • This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage a team while maintaining high standards of performance and customer satisfaction. A deep understanding of maritime operations, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, project management, stakeholder engagement, safety, environmental protection, emergency response, water resource management and maritime transportation movements.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the effective management of waterways and harbor associated activities in the Red Sea Global region.
  • Uphold adherence to international maritime waterways regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
  • Direct the planning and execution of dredging, maintenance, and infrastructure enhancement projects to optimize waterway and harbor functionality.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with government entities, port authorities, and stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.
  • Manage budgeting, financial performance, and reporting for waterway and harbor operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a dedicated team of maritime professionals to ensure operational excellence and safety.
  • Analyze performance metrics, data trends, and industry developments to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry best practices, and trends in waterway and harbor operations to drive innovation.
  • Establishment and execution of a comprehensive waterways management system to guarantee the secure, effective, and sustainable use of water routes.
  • Supervise and authorize maritime strategies for waterways, encompassing vessel traffic management and dredging plans.
  • Assess and authorize NOCs and permits for maritime endeavors, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and norms.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and validate maritime agreements and strategies linked to waterways management, such as dredging, navigation aids, and maintenance contracts.
  • Oversee the overall operations of the Waterways Management Division, encompassing facilitation, research, and performance comparison.
  • Manage the procurement of external resources to bolster the development and execution of waterways management operations.
  • Offer guidance and oversee staff within the Waterways Management Division to ensure the efficient and effective completion of their assigned duties.
  • Assign and oversee divisional objectives, goals, and initiatives to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead and authorize tasks associated with stops, routes, schedules, and maritime operations, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Conduct inquiries to address and resolve complaints from waterway users or operators promptly and professionally.

 

People Management Responsibilities:

  • As the Director of Waterways Management and Harbour Master at Red Sea Global, it is your responsibility to lead and ensure that all staff members within the Harbour and Waterways Division acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • This involves implementing comprehensive training programs that are tailored to meet the specific needs of the division.
  • By identifying skill gaps and conducting regular training sessions, you will enable staff members to enhance their expertise and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Lead and supervise staff for efficient waterways operations.
  • Recruit, train, and develop employees.
  • Set performance goals and provide feedback.
  • Resolve conflicts and address grievances.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Guarantee the efficiency of waterways management through the implementation and evaluation of regulatory frameworks, policies, and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Acquire necessary resources and technology to bolster the division's functionalities effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Finance & Accounts Division to develop and oversee the division's budget for streamlined financial management.

 

Job Requirements and Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in Maritime or related field
  • 10+ with at least 5 years in maritime profession including waterways management, Marina or Harbour Management
  • Local / international in Maritime Field
  • English, Arabic a benefit
