Job Purpose
The Instructor – Water Sports is responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and high-quality watersports experiences across The Red Sea destination. Working under the guidance of the Senior Instructor – Water Sports and Watersports Management, the role provides professional instruction, supervises guests during activities, and ensures all watersports equipment and operational assets are maintained in a safe and service-ready condition.
The Instructor supports the daily operation of WAMA's watersports programme by delivering exceptional guest experiences, promoting safe participation, protecting the marine environment, and ensuring compliance with RSSE operating procedures, health and safety standards, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Delivery

Deliver a variety of guided watersports activities in accordance with approved operating procedures and RSSE service standards.

Conduct guest welcome sessions, safety briefings, equipment demonstrations, and operational instructions before each activity.

Supervise guests throughout activities, ensuring their safety, enjoyment, and adherence to operational guidelines.

Assess guest ability, weather conditions, sea state, tides, and operational risks before and during each activity.

Adapt activities where necessary to maintain guest safety while delivering an exceptional experience.

Support the daily operation of watersports facilities across resorts and designated activity locations.

Assist with launching, retrieving, transporting, and storing watersports equipment and operational assets.
Guest Experience

Deliver professional instruction across approved watersports activities.

Provide coaching and guidance appropriate to guests' experience and ability levels.

Create memorable and engaging experiences that reflect RSSE's premium hospitality standards.

Respond professionally to guest enquiries and resolve routine concerns promptly.

Escalate guest complaints or operational issues to the Senior Instructor where appropriate.

Promote responsible enjoyment of the marine environment and educate guests on environmental protection initiatives.
Equipment & Asset Management
-
Inspect, prepare, clean, maintain, and store watersports equipment before and after daily operations.

Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance requirements or defects immediately.
-
Maintain accurate equipment inspection logs and operational records.
-
Ensure all operational areas, equipment storage facilities, and guest preparation areas remain clean, organised, and guest-ready.

Assist with inventory management and stock control of operational equipment and consumables.
Safety & Compliance
-
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Emergency Response Plans (ERPs), and watersports safety procedures.

Conduct pre-activity safety inspections of equipment and operational areas.

Monitor changing environmental conditions, including wind, weather, currents, tides, and visibility.

Respond effectively to emergencies and provide first aid where required.

Report incidents, hazards, near misses, and equipment defects in accordance with company procedures.

Promote a proactive safety culture and responsible operational practices.
Team Support
-
Work collaboratively with Senior Instructors, Supervisors, and the wider Watersports Operations team.

Support operational setup, guest flow, activity scheduling, and daily logistics.

Participate in operational briefings, training sessions, emergency drills, and continuous development programmes.

Assist with promotional events, demonstrations, resort activations, and special guest programmes.

Contribute ideas that enhance guest satisfaction, operational efficiency, and service quality.

Comply with all RSSE policies, procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and work instructions.

Complete activity reports, equipment inspections, maintenance records, and incident documentation accurately and on time.

Maintain confidentiality of operational, guest, and business information.

Support compliance with all applicable regulatory and operational requirements.

Apply all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) policies and procedures.

Promote safe operating practices throughout all watersports activities.

Qualifications & Experience
-
High School Diploma or equivalent; Diploma in Sports, Physical Education, Outdoor Recreation, Tourism, Hospitality, or a related discipline is preferred.

Minimum of 2–3 years' experience delivering watersports activities within hospitality, tourism, resorts, or adventure recreation.
-
Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from an internationally recognised provider.
-
National Governing Body (NGB) or internationally recognised instructor certification in one or more watersports disciplines.
-
Lifeguard qualification is desirable.
-
Rescue craft or powered vessel experience is advantageous.
-
Previous experience within luxury resorts or remote destinations is preferred.
