Job Purpose

The Assistant Boat Captain plays a key role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of WAMA boats. This site-based position assists the Boat Captain in ensuring that all voyages are conducted safely, professionally, and in full comfort for guests and staff. The role also contributes to the upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance coordination of the vessels to maintain them in excellent working and visual condition.


Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Support the Boat Captain in operating vessels in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.

  • Ensure clear communication with passengers and staff during all trips.

  • Assist in the preparation and inspection of boats prior to departure, ensuring all safety and personal protective equipment is in place.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of boats at all times.

  • Assist in ferrying staff and guests between WAMA centres as required.

  • Support daily excursions, ensuring smooth logistics and guest satisfaction.

  • Participate in maintaining overall WAMA Centre organization and tidiness.

  • Collaborate with Sustainability and SEZ departments to ensure environmental compliance.

  • Work remotely and report to the main office as needed.

Pre-Opening Phase

  • Assist the Senior Manager and Boat Captain in the setup and operational readiness of new WAMA Centres.

  • Support coordination between RSG departments during delivery stages to ensure timely and quality completion.

  • Familiarize with local excursion sites and operational routes.

Post-Opening Phase

  • Uphold and prioritize safety standards at all times.

  • Support all WAMA Centre activities in a professional and guest-oriented manner.

  • Follow operational protocols for client pickup and drop-off procedures.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs and maintenance records.

  • Foster strong working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and guests.

  • Adhere to all operational policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety, quality, and environmental management systems.

Continuous Improvement

  • Actively identify and suggest improvements to processes and practices in line with international best standards.

  • Contribute to enhancing operational efficiency, guest experience, and sustainability efforts.


Stakeholder Relationships

Internal: Senior Manager – Boat Captains, Boat Captains, WAMA Centre Staff, Development Department, Sustainability Department.
External: Guests, Contractors, Local Maritime Authorities, Service Providers.


Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Assistant Boat Captain (or eligible for Saudi registration).

  • Strong marine knowledge of the local area.

  • Previous experience working with guests in a hospitality or maritime environment.

  • Basic troubleshooting knowledge of boats and outboard engines.

  • Proven ability to support in vessel operations, maintenance, and guest handling.
